An Official Welcome from the Screw Iowa! Writers Workshop:

We know.  We write, too.  The first hurdle to writing is getting started.  But then there’s that second hurdle:  staying at it.  We’ve learned that the best way to clear that second hurdle is keeping good company with other writers.  Other writers will read your work, encourage your writing habits, and commiserate with your failures and successes.  The key to great writing lies in “style” and “voice” and “character” and “description”—all stuff you can pick up at writing conferences or in books on craft.  The key to staying at the writing life is connecting with other writers. That’s something you can do right here.  Take a load off and make yourself comfortable.  Read the chapter excerpts and learn about the Screw Iowa! way, then head over to register for the Forum where you can meet the other writers and begin clearing that second hurdle.
